This is the 2nd picture in a series of 4 of   Prince Charles taken on his 51st birthday by a Hullo photographer.

The ears needed special treatment so I made a board about 4.5 inches deep and wrapped the painted surface around the sides.As the painting developed I needed to give it relief so I mixed Polyfilla into the acrylic paint to give it stiffness and then painted it on with thick brush strokes.  Surprisingly, although the polyfilla is white, the diluting effect on the colours was small and when needed, I was able to use strong colours
